Why resurface concrete

If you have an existing concrete surface that is either outdated or damaged, there’s no need to rip it all out and start from scratch. SUNDEK of Washington can apply a coating on top of your existing surface, creating a surface that looks brand new and costs less (see Concrete Resurfacing Cost).

Weather considerations

Since we’ve been resurfacing concrete in the Washington D.C., Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia areas for decades, we know how to create durable surfaces that can withstand harsh weather. We can help guide you in choosing the right products for your space.

Can damaged concrete be resurfaced?

Yes! As long as your concrete is viable (structurally sound), it can be resurfaced. In fact, at SUNDEK of Washington, we are experts in concrete repair. We will assess the damage and help determine how to prevent it from happening again. We'll also make sure the repaired area of your concrete blends in with the rest of your surface.

Design possibilities with concrete resurfacing

When resurfacing your existing concrete, you can either stick with the same look you had before, or switch it up entirely—there is no limit when it comes to design options. SUNDEK products give you flexibility when it comes to choosing colors, textures, and patterns. We can even create the look of brick, wood, limestone, or other another material you like with a stamped concrete overlay.

Maintaining a decorative coating

Many of our clients are surprised to learn how simple it is to maintain a decorative concrete or epoxy coating. General maintenance includes sweeping or hosing off the surface as necessary to remove dirt and grime. For spots that are hard to remove you can use a non-abrasive commercial cleaner.

We apply a high-quality sealer to all the surfaces we install. The sealer protects the surface from everyday wear-and-tear, in addition to stains from things like oil or other substances.

An Elegant Surface for Shared Outdoor Spaces

See how we worked with LandDesign Architects to create the surfaces for walkways, sitting areas, BBQ area, and patio areas for a shared outdoor living space at Lumen Apartments in Tysons, VA. To get the modern, rustic look that Lumens was looking for, we used SUNDEK’s SunStone pattern in travertine finish in both gray and light gray colors.
